Maggie & Gokul

Maggie and Gokul's wedding was a beautiful celebration that seamlessly blended the rich traditions of both Filipino and Indian cultures with western influences. It encapsulated the essence of their relationship, marked by love, humour, and the presence of their beloved German shepherd, Dobby. Maggie tells their story...

Our wedding was a visual and sensory delight; the bridesmaids, resplendent in Indian sarees, and the groomsmen, striking in Filipino barong, were a testament to our commitment to honoring our rich cultural heritages. For many of the guests, it was their first experience of a western Christian wedding, and they were expertly guided through the proceedings by the charismatic priest. Dobby not only made a special appearance at the ceremony but also stole the show as the dapper ring bearer, dressed in a tuxedo, adding a charming touch to the festivities.

We were inspired by the rustic venue and centered our entire theme around its simple yet elegant beauty, and despite the weather veering off the initial plan for an outdoor ceremony, the indoor setting was equally as gorgeous!

We couldn't venture far for our photo shoot because of the weather, but the beauty of the venue and our photographer Gibo's creativity allowed us to get some amazing shots around the venue.

Each centerpiece was lovingly crafted by us, blending elements from both of our cultures. Our guest book was truly unique - a Jenga set adorned with heartfelt messages from our loved ones. As we entered the reception, the upbeat Tamil song "Vaathi Coming" from my favorite movie, Master, filled the room and set the tone for a joyous celebration. Our first dance to Jac Ross's acoustic rendition of Celine Dion's "Because You Loved Me" was a tender moment that we'll cherish forever. The highlight of the evening was the lively father-daughter dance; my dad and I started with Edamame, and to my surprise, my mom and younger sister joined in, creating an unforgettable family memory. Seeing Gokul's parents enjoying themselves and dancing freely brought us immense joy; it was a side of them we had never seen before.

Later in the evening, Gokul and I slipped into our cozy dinosaur onesies and danced the night away with our friends and family. The evening was filled with laughter, Champagne toasts, and even a playful 'Vogue' session. Relying on our close friend instead of a DJ added a personalised touch to the night, making it even more special. It was a celebration of love, culture, and unforgettable moments.

On our special day, everything was so much fun, which truly made it perfect for us. We simply embraced each moment, riding the waves of joy and keeping a wonderfully relaxed vibe throughout. This celebration was solely about us and our enduring love, marking how far we've journeyed together.
