Kerry and Adam celebrated a simple and elegant vineyard wedding with dashes of bold colour, delicious treats and… beer! Kerry shares their story…

Our wedding day was the perfect blend of the two of us and a chance to (finally) share our love with both our families at the same time.

Adam and I met while I was on my OE in Europe. He was studying in Edinburgh and living with a cousin of mine and I needed a place to stay on my travels. After spending the summer together we knew a relationship was worth pursuing so I moved from NZ to Scotland. After two years together we became engaged and, as my father passed away when I was little, I knew straight away the date to choose for our wedding as it was my parents’ wedding date too and I have always held it close to my heart. This did mean a long engagement of two years so we could be in New Zealand in the summertime, but it was worth the wait and extra savings!

I was incredibly grateful to win my Jessica Bridal wedding gown with Bride & Groom magazine, and with so many gorgeous dresses out there it really helped narrow my decision-making and not feel overwhelmed with choice. I have always wanted that ‘Princess moment’ on my wedding day and knew I wanted and A-Line dress with soft tulle. Jessica Bridal had exactly what I was looking for – including a layer of sparkles in the skirt!

Go Flowers created all our beautiful florals and used my favourite flowers with our colour theme. Perfection!

I have always wanted a vineyard wedding and Gracehill Estate was the perfect place for us to have the ceremony and reception in one stunning location. An extra draw card for having it at this location was their already set wedding day timeline, which for someone like me who likes to be organised and have everything on a schedule, meant this part of the day was already well looked after and Adam and I could go with the flow.

For our decorations we decided to go with simple floral touches in beer and wine bottles – perfect as Adam is a brewer! We had little suitcases for our favours stuffed with yummy chocolates from Bennetts of Mangawhai to share our love of travel and adventure.

Our beautiful cake was created by Sweet Bites Cakes, who knew exactly what to design after seeing our invitations, and we had a delicious donut tower from Doornuts, so there were plenty of sweet treats, which fit us to a T.

It really was a perfect day filled with love, laughter and family.
