Maxine & Jimmy
Autumn tones set the scene for Maxine and Jimmy’s rustic country wedding held on a family farm…
Having our wedding at my grandparents farm, just 10 months after the passing of my grandfather, proved extra special as the farm was his pride and joy and the place I spent my whole life growing up with my Mum, Dad, Sister and Nana and Pop.
We spent 9 months planning and preparing our wedding venue, including a complete makeover of the gardens, our existing rustic shed was added on to with a recycled timber pavilion with clear sides and roof, painting and lots of general up keep was required to produce our special sentimental wedding.
Everything about the wedding was done by family with the help of some friends, adding to the value of our wedding. ‘Classic and elegant with a modern edge’ was the wedding dress brief. Designed and made by Mum, Cath, with an eye for detail and creativity, she worked endlessly on my dress, not to mention the intricate veil, bridesmaid’s dresses, all of the florals and floral decorations. So it’s safe to say, her contributions, originality and efforts bought the wedding to life.
We shared the ceremony with 170 of our closest family and friends, on my Nana and Pops front lawn overlooking the farm and the Paparimu Valley, surrounded by the beautiful gardens. Guests then made their way down to the reception held in our newly constructed and renovated shed, while the bridal party explored the 200-acre farm for photos.
After dinner and hysterical speeches, guests partied into the night to a live band creating a truly vibrant country wedding.
