Retro Elopement
This stunning wedding style captures the simplicity of weddings in the ‘60s, which were often held at home, combined with the special elements of Wellington - a walkable, compact little city, filled with old buildings, art, and good food and drink. Stylist and photographer Michelle from Patina Photo tells us more…
“The wedding style features a non-traditional mini-dress and two-piece jumpsuit with wide-leg silk pants with pockets, a textured wrap top, cream platform heels, statement pearl earrings. She pairs this with a 1960s-inspired makeup and hair in a sleek updo. The ‘groom wears stylish blue velvet pants, textured jacket, crisp white shirt and Doc Martens.”
“The shoot was done with flash and motion blur, giving it a modern-meets-retro vibe.
The day, much like a real elopement, started with the couple getting ready and having a drink together in a new Wellington boutique accommodation, followed by strolling the streets and coming back to the accommodation for candle-lit Champagne and cake. They even popped into a local award-winning restaurant for dinner and drinks!”
For the evening celebrations the bride wears a cute mini dress with puffed shoulders, back cut-out, 3d printing detailing, and pearl buttons, with hot pink heels and heart shaped earrings, and short blusher veil.
“The flowers were kept minimal with vintage pops of white and cream, designed to look effortless like the bride herself had thrown them together, and tied together with a silk bow.
A heart-shaped pastel blue cake with outrageous bold red text reads ‘we're married bitches!’ is an eye-catching piece of decor.”
