Imagine a sun-drenched afternoon on Waiheke Island, where rolling vineyards meet the sparkling blue waters of the Hauraki Gulf. You arrive in a beautifully restored classic VW Kombi, its retro charm blending seamlessly with the island’s laid-back elegance. Parked on a grassy knoll overlooking the vines, the doors of the Kombi open to reveal a carefully curated gourmet picnic setup.
A luxurious picnic rug is spread under a canopy of grapevines, with plush cushions and a rustic wooden crate serving as a makeshift table. A chilled bottle of Waiheke’s finest Batch Winery Rose waits in an ice bucket, ready to be poured.
The picnic hamper overflows with artisanal delights:
Freshly baked sourdough, paired with locally made olive oil and dukkah
A selection of Waiheke cheeses, including creamy brie and aged cheddar
A charcuterie spread featuring prosciutto, salami, and duck pâté
Seasonal fruits — juicy figs, plump strawberries, and sweet island peaches
Handmade individual pavlova's, topped with fresh berries and drizzled with a fruit coulis.
